Shield Or; a pilgrim's staff Sable in pale with its gourd Gules tied Gules between two grape bunches Purpure leafed Vert; issuant from base wavy Argent, charged with a barrulet wavy Azure, a mount Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CARREIRA - SANTO TIRSO".
Meaning:
The word "carreira" means usually "career" or "route" but its more generic meaning of "run" is, albeit somewhat archaic, well known. I am not sure, whether the pilgrim staff on the arms, refering to the Way of St. James, shares its meaning with this word.
