The arms are Gules an eagle displayed Or armed and crested and Sable with legs Sable between a sun Or in dexter chief and a crescent Argent in sinister chief. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE SOURE".

Soure municipality had 20 695 inhabitants in 2001, and it is divided in 10 communes, covering 265,1 km². It is part of: Coimbra District, traditional province and 1999 ref. adm. region Beira Litoral, C.C.R. / NUTS II Centro, and NUTS III Baixo Mondego.
