About the Flag

It is a fairly typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow background.

Coat of arms

[Seixo commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta, 20 Feb 2010

The arms are Argent 25 roundels set per escarbuncle the middle one Sable and on each arm three roundels the middle of which Sable and the others Gules. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "SEIXO - MIRA".
Meaning:
"Seixo" means "pebble"; I'm not sure if the arms refer to this in any way. A case of really interesting arms yielding a daft flag. I wonder where from they got the yellow for the background, usually taken from the arms, red would be the obvious choice.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 20 Feb 2010

OK, I tried, but it seems to turn the red roundels into holes in the shield, showing the red background. Maybe that's why they decided against it.
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 4 June 2010

Flag adopted and published in the official journal Diário da República: III Série in 1993.10.02 (a slightly early date).
