About the Flag

It is a quite typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Coat of arms

[Coruche municipality CoA] image by Klaus-Michael Schneider, 7 Aug 2014

The coat of arms is or, a tower gules under a Avis cross (vert fleury) and between a two parassol pine trees proper, on each of which perches an owl proper. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE CORUCHE".
Meaning:
The arms might be canting, provided that between the words "coruche" and "coruja" (="owl") is more than just a surface similarity.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 24 Feb 2000

Flag and arms were approved on 11 June 1934.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 24 Feb 2000

Version without Coat of Arms

Plain (monocoloured) Portuguese subnational flags are not allowed to have variations without arms: plain flags always carry the coat of arms.
Jorge Candeias, 18 July 1999
