Kije -rural commune, Pińczów County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodship - former name: gmina Kliszów; "kije" translates into "sticks".
Gmina Kije is a rural gmina (commune) in Pińczów County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodship, in south-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Kije, which lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north of Pińczów and 31 km (19 mi) south of the regional capital Kielce.
Area: 99.26 sq.km (38.3 sq.mi); Population: 4,624 (2006).
1140 - first church built
1702 - big battle between Swedes, Saxons and Poles in nearby Kliszów
XIX C - known for items made of gypsum.

Arms and flag adopted on May 2, 2004 (resolution # XIII/109/04).
"Arms: on a green medieval shield, rounded at the bottom, three spears with golden arrowheads between two golden initials "G" and "K" standing for "Gmina Kije".
Flag: is a tautological rendition of the Arms in the ratio 5:8."
