Eastern Africa National Shipping Line flag (new version)

In 1968 the diamond and initials at the center of the design were replaced by a blue ball which contained the national emblems of each country, and the initials of the company round its border. In practice, these emblems, the Crested Crane of Uganda, The Torch of Tanzania, The Shield of Kenya and the Yellow Eagle of Zambia, seem to be reserved for the house flag, for even those ships owned by the company have only a plain blue ball on the funnel marking.

The company went bankrupt in 1980.

The Eastern Africa National Shipping Line Ltd., of Mombasa, began operations in 1966, using chartered tonnage. At that time, a smart and distinctive marking was used, which combined the colors of four developing nations which had interests in the line: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
