Background

The Kenya Red Cross Society  (Msalaba Mwekundu la Kenya in Swahili) (KRCS) is one of the many International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement societies around the world. The Kenya society was established in 1965 through an Act of Parliament (Cap 256 of the Laws of Kenya). The KRCS supports and runs a number of projects whilst raising awareness to the Kenyan public about the current issues or problems which may affect them. Some of the projects which are either run by or assisted by the Kenya Red Cross are famine, blood services, first aid projects, disaster and emergency services and education services.

The flag of the Kenya Red Cross Society has a white field.  On the hoist side is the logo of the society, comprising a red cross in front of two assagais in saltire, while on the fly half is the name of the society in black.

The KRCS celebrated its 50th Anniversary on 08 May 2015 (see details here).  A flag adopted for the occasion had a red field with the KRCS 50th anniversary logo, illustrated above, in a black disc in the centre.
