Description

Mashhed is a Local Council since 1960 with 6,500 inh. (2003), all Moslems, situated 5 kms. north to Nazareth next to Kafar Kanna. The meaning of the name in Arabic is a Grave of an holy man. It is traditionally to identify the said grave, situated near the main mosque as the grave of the Prophet Jonah (Yona HaNavi - Nabi Yunes).

Been there twice but no flag. At least the local football team has a flag of blue with yellow inscription in Arabic: Iti'had Ibnu El'Mashhed (Mashhed Juniors Union). See <www.panet.co.il>.
