The municipality of Petlovac (2,743 inhabitants in 2001, 801 in the village of Petlovac) is located some 30 km east of Osijek.

Flag of Petlovac

The symbols of Petlovac were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration before 2006.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms is "Azure a ploughshare argent palewise between a wreath of ferns or and in chief a billhook argent handled or".
This coat of arms probably originates from the late 19th century. At least this is the style of coat of arms granted to many villages in that period in the Hungarian part of Austria-Hungary, but also in Vojvodina and Hungary.

The ceremonial flag is a pale yellow gonflaon ending in three triangularly ending tails, with the coat of arms bordered golden in the centre of it, above the name of the municipality in two arches in green letters and below crossed branches of oak and linden.

Former flag of Petlovac

HTV news reported on 2 November 2003 the uncovering of a monument in Baranjsko Petrovo Selo, showing the probable former, unofficial flag of Petlovac.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, with a yellow wide off-centered cross (of width approximately 1/3 of the hoist, forming square fields next to the hoist), the fields formed by the cross being, clockwise from canton, red, blue, green and black, though I am far from sure on that order. In the center of the cross is a black rooster (recalling the municipality's name) standing on two wavy lines apparently along the entire horizontal bar of the cross.
