Presentation of Ventosilla y Tejadilla

The municipality of Ventosilla y Tejadilla (38 inhabitants in 2009; 598 ha; unofficial webpage) is located in the east of Segovia Province, 50 km from Segovia. The municipality is made of the three villages of Ventosilla (capital), Las Casas Altas and (y) Tejadilla.
Ventosilla got its name either as a windy (ventoso) place or for a famous inn (venta) once located there. The settlement is of Visigothic remote origin, as evidenced by a necropolis.
Tejadilla got its name for tiles (tejas), indicating that the villagers might have used tiles for their roofs instead of wood and straw more commonly used in the region.
