Symbols of Veganzones

The flag and arms of Veganzones are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 1 September 1997 by the Segovia Provincial Government, signed on 3 September 1997 by the President of the Government, and published on 16 September 1997 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 177 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, made of a yellow panel with a red saltire and an Infanzón's coronet in the middle.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Vert a tray argent two women's breast amputated and bloody gules, 2. Gules an Hijodalgo's coronet or, grafted in base argent a bishop's crozier and cross gules per saltire. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

The Royal Academy of History rejected the proposed arms. The reference to St. Agatha should be less realistic. The use of the "hijodalgo or infanzón's coronet" to highlight a possible etymology of the place name is "absolutely unacceptable". Finally, the church attributes are placed inadequately in the base of the shield. The proposed flag is acceptable, excepted the awkward coronet also used in the arms (Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia, 1999, 196, 2: 342).
