Symbols of Zagra

The flag and arms of Zagra, adopted on 10 July 1991 by the Municipal Council and validated on 26 June 1992 by the Royal Academy of History, are prescribed by Decree No. 189, adopted on 3 November 1992 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 19 December 1992 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 131, pp. 10,366-10,367 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text)
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, horizontally divided into three parallel horizontal stripes perpendicular to the hoist, the first, yellow, the second, white, and the third, green, the central stripe twice wider than the two outer stripes, charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Vert a castle or masoned sable port and windows gules on a rock argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed [detailed description skipped].

The symbols were validated by the Royal Academy of History. The arms are "of great simplicity, in perfect compliance with the customs of the best period of municipal heraldry". The arms recall the etymology of Zagra (in Arab, "a rock") and the local castle. The colour of the shield is a reference to the olive trees that thrive in the municipal territory.
