The "شرکت فرودگاهها و ناوبری هوایی ایرانر" (Iran Airports & Air Navigation
Company, IAC) formerly the Iran Airports Company, is a State-owned enterprise in
charge of civilian airports in the country. It was established in 1988 (1370 in
Persian calendar) and was called initially "عنوان شرکت مهندسی فرودگاههای"
(English: Airfield (Airport) Engineering Company). Since July 1, 1994, the word
"Engineering" was dropped from the name. Since 2004 it is a holding company. It
was dependent to the "وزارت راه و ترابری" (English: "Department (Ministry) of
Roads and Transportation, MRT" (official website:
http://www.mrt.ir)) and since June 27, 2011, when the MRT and the "وزارت
مسکن و شهرسازی" (English: "Department" (Ministry) of Housing and Urban
Development, MHUD, were merged to become the (English: Ministry of
Transportation and Housing) and then the Ministry evolved into the "وزارت راه و
شهرسازی" (English: "Ministry of Roads & City (Urban) Development, MRUD"
