Flag of Martinska Ves

The symbols of Martinska Ves are prescribed by Decision Odluka o utvrđivanju grba i zastave Općine Martinska Ves, adopted on 24 October 1994 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 3 November 1994 in the County official gazette Slućbeni glasnik #x017D;upanije Sisačko-moslavačke, No. 15.

The flag is described in Article 8 of the Decision, as follows:

The flag of the Municipality of Martinska Ves is composed of three colours: red, white and blue, with the coat of arms of the Municipality. The ratio of the flag's width to its length is 1:2. On the white background of the flag, along its middle runs a horizontal blue stripe, in width one third of the flag's width. In the second fifth of the flag's length from the left, the blue stripe is vertically cut by a red stripe of the same width.
In the crossing of the red and blue stripes is the coat of arms of the Municipality, its size matching the width of the stripes.

Vertical hoisting (photo) is described in Article 11 of the Decision, as follows:

If the flag of the Municipality of Martinska Ves is displayed on a table, a stand, above a street or a square in vertical position, the coat of arms rotation is appropriate.

According to the municipal administration, the symbols were desgined by Mladen Merzel, a designer from Sisak (otherwise better publicly known in Croatia as the husband of the former County Head, Marina Lovrić Merzel,in office 2005-2014, currently imprisoned and on trial for financial embezzlement during her mandate.
As is the case for several municipal symbols in the Sisak-Moslavina County, the symbols of Martinska Ves were not approved by the central authorities and they are not compliant with the state regulations. They are being used nevertheless, obviously.

The coat of arms is described in Article 5 of the Decision, as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Martinska Ves is in a shield shape that has in its top right and left corner a volute, and the bottom part ending in a point. The shield is divided by a golden line in three differently coloured areas. The top field has on a light blue background the drawing of the parish church of St. Martin in Martinska Ves. The bottom filed is divided into two unequal parts, the top two thirds are green with a figure of a goose turned to the left, and the bottom third is dark blue.

Although the coat of arms is clearly prescribed to have golden outline and golden lines dividing the background fields in the shield, it is also used with black lines (photo, photo).
