This is indeed an accurate description, but I'm sure that this symbol is meant to be a stylized "Ć", for "AE", the initials of the company name.

My impression of the flag in Josef's site is that the blue is darker. The company is a P&O subsidiary so that a shade of royal blue seems likely.

Ben Line Agencies

White with a thick red border and a black anchor.

The flag is that of the British company William Thomson & Co. who date from 1820 and operated mainly through Ben Line Steamers Ltd. with fleet names usually starting with "Ben". The current operations are under Ben Line Group Ltd., still based in Edinburgh. The anchor is dark blue although the origin of this image comes apparently from the Hong Kong agency company formed in 1987 and their website shows it as black, I would think probably in error. Griffin 1895 shows a black foul anchor which would seem incorrect on two counts. A variation was used by Ben Line Containers Ltd. who were formed in 1972 as a joint venture with Ellermans, the anchor being replaced by a black arrow bent into 3 sides (like the ACT design] with that to fly being empty and within this the black letters "BLC". Ellermans were later bought out and presumably the company was absorbed back into the group.

China Merchants Steam Navigation Co., Ltd.

By 1980 Lloyds was showing the Hong Kong company of China Merchants Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., initially with vessels being operated by COSCO. Later in the 1980s Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Co. Ltd. appears and this probably explains the CMSNC omission in the first half of the 1990s in Lloyds Shipowners but they do appear still in Lloyds Shipowning Groups as a subsidiary of China Merchants Holdings Co. Ltd. and operating the fleet through subsidiaries Hong Kong Ming Wah, Huawei Offshore Shipping Transport Co. Ltd. etc. all of which appear to have their own liveries.
