Wingerode Coat of Arms

The shield is mantled. Above right in a red field a silver bend sinister wavy; above left in a red field a silver, bendy axe; in silver base is a red, flambant heart, charged (blazon says "tierced") with three golden nails.
Meaning:
The flambant heart is reminding on Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuit Order. It is also alluding to the Jesuit College in nearby Heiligenstadt. Finally it is alluding to St. Ignatius Chapel, being a place of pilgrimage since more than 300 years. The bend sinister is representing Leine River. The axe is reminding on the fact, that the settlement developed by forest clearance.
