Our new flag design has been adopted and is now flying in front of our County
Office building. The redesign contest was covered by some local media, and a
flag will also fly in Afghanistan on the base for the North Carolina National
Guard's 514th Military Police Company, out of Winterville, NC. You can see the
new flag at

For people who would would like to compare the entries to see whether the
entries were simple, and whether they were ageless, I include a link

There, we're also informed that "Pitt County Government's flag has gotten a
facelift! Pitt County Government launched the Pitt County Flag Redesign Contest
on February 1, and by the March 12 deadline, the County had received over 80
entries.
Pitt County designers, young and old, were encouraged to
participate in the contest, and the Office of Public Information received
entries from school children, as well as older adults. Judges from the Office of
Public Information, Pitt County Schools, ECU, and the Pitt County Arts Council
at Emerge narrowed down the entries to the top 3. Commissioners then voted on
the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and the 1st place design was adopted as the
official flag at their April 2 meeting. But, the winners were kept secret until
the April 16 meeting, when the winners found out where their entries placed and
received their cash prizes."

Divided blue over white, with a narrow yellow stripe along the field boundary, the seal in the upper hoist, 14 yellow triangles in an arch resembling a rising sun, and the name PITT COUNTY (in blue) and NORTH CAROLINA (in black) on the white field in a fancy irregular script.
