Mordwinia was part of the Idel-Ural (1918-20) and after was occupied by the bolcheviks; in 1928 was created a national territory, and was autonomous region in 1930. In 1934 was created the autonomous republic, and the first flag was adopted soon after (1934 or 1935 probably), with the capital letters common of the three languages of the country (moksha, erzya and russian), and the patriotic inscription: «proletarians of all the world, unite».
