Coat of arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Argent and Azure, an embattled belfry Argent crowned by rooster and cross Argent with bell Or in open window, tower flanked by two paly branches of olive Or fruited Sable, issuant from base a watermill's wheel Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE (1st line) SÃO JOÃO DA RIBEIRA E RIBEIRA DE SÃO JOÃO" "".
Meaning:
The new arms combine elements of both former communes: belfry and olive branches from São João, base wavy and millwheel fom Ribeira.
