It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field (village rank).

Coat of arms

The arms are Mural Or over a base wavy Azure (dark) and Argent, a swift proper with filled with wool Gules and flanked by two bunches of grapes Purpure leaved Vert, in chief a scallop Gules, mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "ALMALAGUES".

Almalagues is one of the 31 communes of Coimbra Municipality (q.v.); it had 3111 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 23,16 km².
