Overview

The district (community) of Nata, located in the province of Cocle, has adopted a flag. The designer of the flag is Lucinda Orriola de Diaz, born in Nata, a dental surgeon, head of the local planification unit of the Bethania polyclinic. The field of the flag is green, symbolizing the fertility of land in Nata. The yellow disc represents the sun and the moon, which are important elements of the development of agriculture. On the right of the sphere, the church represents Santiago's Minor Basilica, built by the Spanish colons in the XVIIth century. The six stars, of chocolate colour, on the left (?) represent the six "corregimientos" (components?) of Nata.
The flag was approved by the Resolution # 5 of the Municipal Council of Nata on 3 March 2004.
