The Wanganui Rugby Football Union was founded in 1888 and is based around the city of Wanganui in the southwest North Island.

If I recall correctly their colours are white, blue and black.

Today I turned on the TV and caught the last few minutes of the final of the Heartland Championship (the second flight on NZ provincial rugby), competed between Mid-Canterbury and Wanganui (Wanganui won). There were quite a few flags of different designs, and it seems unlikely that any one of the is the official design of either the Mid-Canterbury provincial rugby team or the Wanganui provincial rugby team. Several of those on display were typical of NZ rugby flags, simply quartered in the two colours of each team.

One flag did occur several times though, and may be a semi-official fan flag of Wanganui provincial rugby. It features Wanganui's colours of mid-blue, white and black (the team's uniform is horizontal bands of blue and black fimbriated in white) - This particular flag - attached as is blue with two thin horizontal strips of black, each fimbriated white.

A different flag has been flying from Wanganui Council Offices in the build-up to the final, however. The only picture I've managed to track down of it isn't particularly clear, unfortunately, though it looks like it may be four horizontal stripes of blue, black, blue, black, each with white fimbriation. It can be seen at the Council website.
