Blazon: I rødt en sølv rokk. In English: Gules a spinning wheel argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 20 January 1989 after a drawing by Arvid Sveen.
The municipal web site http://www.kafjord.kommune.no/om-kommunevaapenet.4769843-152693.html quotes from the committee report on choosing the spinning wheel:
"The spinning wheel is a timeless symbol. Handicrafts have long and particular traditions in Kåfjord. It is still driving production in the municipality and this is a business that is also set for the future.
- The spinning wheel is a unifying symbol for Kåfjord's population. Most had a sppining wheel on a central place in their homes while they were growing up.
- The speeining wheel represents an important industry and has been a vital necessity for many in the municipality. It can stand as a symbol of frugality, self-sufficiency and industrious / hardworking people."
Since 2009 the "Spinnvill Rokkefestival" is held in Kåfjord.
