Description

I just spotted a UFE in Jordan. It was in a documentary about the attempts to break the sound barrier with land vehicles. One of the contenders is British and went to the Jordanian desert to make his attempt. At one point, there was a shot showing three flags: the UJ, the flag of Jordan and, in the middle, the UFE.

It was a dark flag, black and dark blue, disposed in a wide vertical zigzag, with the black part at the hoist and the blue part at the fly. I'm not sure, but it seemed that the inner points of the zigzag reached the hoist side, while the outer points reached perhaps 75% or 80% of the flag's width. I'm also not sure about the number of points, but I'd guess some 4 or 5 outer points. What I am sure of is a crown, off-centered to the hoist site and rather big, perhaps as large as the Portuguese coat of arms in the Portuguese national flag.

Anyone has any idea about what this might have been?

Looks like the logo of Royal Jordanian Airlines, except that the blue would have been gray.

The airline was established on December 9, 1963 as Alia Airlines and started operations on 15 December 1963 after a Royal Decree by the late King Hussein. It was named Alia (or Aalya) after King Hussein's eldest child, Princess Alia bint Al Hussein of Jordan.

This flag of the Royal Jordanian Airline, c. 2006 appears to show a red stripe across the top, and a simplified crown.
