Kolan, a municipality with just about 750 inhabitants, under 500 in the village of the same name, was formed in 2003 by secession from the Town of Pag, situated in the central part of the Pag island, about 65 km north-west of Zadar. The economic base of the municipality consists of tourism and sheep production, as for the entire island.
