Flag of Daruvar

The symbols of Daruvar are prescribed in the Town Statutes Statut Grada Daruvara, adopted on 1 September 2009 by the Town Assembly and published in the Town official gazette Službeni glasnik Grada Daruvara, No. 6.

The flag is prescribed in Article 9 of the Town Statutes as "blue, in proportions 1:2, with the coat of arms in the middle, shown on both sides of the flag".

The coat of arms is described in Article 7 of the Town Statutes as "in red on a green triple mount a silver citadel with four towers and embattlements built over two gray arches. The outer towers are somewhat higher than the inner ones. In the centre of the towers there are oblong doors. At the embattlements in the centre is a silver crane looking to the left, holding in its leg a stone, symbolizing the everlasting vigilance at watch."
Article 8 of the Town Statutes refers to a document of the State Archives, issued on 4 March 1995, confirming the historical coat of arms of the Town.

The coat of arms is based on the coat of arms of the Janković von Daruvar family, the rulers of the town from at least the 16th century. In the 18th century they were granted the title of Counts, both Hungarian and Austrian.
The arms are canting, the name of the town meaning "crane town" in Hungarian.
