Symbols of El Valle

The flag of El Valle, approved on 24 December 2007 by the Municipal Council and submitted on 14 January 2008 to the Directorate General of the Local Administration, are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 29 January 2008 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 11 February 2008 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 29, p. 43 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Panel in proportions 3:2 (length to width), horizontally divided into two equal stripes: on top, with the red Cross of the Order of Calatrava in the center, on bottom, green with three white keys, in the same pattern as on the coat of arms.

The coat of arms of El Valle, approved on 10 October 2000 by the Municipal Council and revised on 18 February 2002, as suggested on 2 October 2001 by the Royal Academy of Córdoba, is prescribed by Decree No. 251, adopted on 8 October 2002 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 31 October 2020 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 127, pp. 21,185-21,186 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: In Spanish shape. Per fess, 1. Azure a Cross of Calatrava gules, 2. Vert three keys argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The original Decree prescribing the coat of arms said "Per pale", which was corrected to "Per fess" in the Decree prescribing the flag.

The flag is a banner of the municipal arms.
The Cross of the Order of Calatrava is found on several coat of arms in the region. The blue field is a straightforward reference to the four rivers that water the municipal territory. The three keys represent the three villages forming the municipality, Melegís, Restábal and Saleres. Green represents olives, one of the main sources of income for the area.
