Introduction

In the province of Alicante, there are several municipalities that have the Aragonese colours (yellow flag with four red stripes) with the municipal CoA in the center. The municipality of Xixona (Spanish: Jijona, 163.76 km² and 7,575 hab., 2008) is located in the comarca of L'Alacantí (Spanish: Campo de Alicante).

"Divided per pale: 1. argent a fleur-de-lys or flanked by keys of the same and, standing on its tip, the Aragonese lozenge; 2. gules, a castle or atop waves argent and azure; surmounted by a royal open crown."

I could not find formal legislation for the shield, and could not connect to the website of the Municipality of the town. Therefore, I have several designs of the flag according to sources on the coat:

  1. with three white flags on the tower (Wikipedia) [es-jij-a-w]
  2. without the three flags on the tower (E. Panizo, Vexilla Hispanica) [es-jij-p]
  3. with three white flags on the tower and silver and azure waves, the shield flanked by the letters L and F (Banderas 34) [es-jij-a-b].
When I get official information on the shield, I pass to the list. For now, I will give priority to the CoA of the bulletin of the Spanish Society of Vexilología.
