Naval Reederei

Naval Reederei A.G. - The company was established in 1922. Owner was a certain R.Heckmann. The company sold its last sailing ship in 1928 but kept a few steamships and was dissolved some time in the 30ies of the 20th century.
The company used a blue splitflag with horizontal orange stripes on the upper and lower edge and an orange capital "N" shifted to the hoist.

Neptun

Dampfschiffahrts-Gesellschaft "Neptun". Horizontally striped, blue-yellow. Formed in 1873 it became Sloman Neptun Schiffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft in 1973 after the Sloman Group bought a 75% holding. The flag was replaced by that of Sloman.

The company was located in Hamburg. The flag is derived from the German Imperial naval flag but the eagle replaced by a black capital “N”. The canton is a black over white over red horizontal triclour but without the iron cross.

Neusser Kies- und Sandbaggerei

A nice find in „Flaggem auf dem Rhein“ (p. 74) was ‚Neusser Kies- and Sandbaggerei GmbH’ meaning, literally, a gravel and sand dredging company established at Neuss, a town situated on the Rhine directly opposite Düsseldorf. This flag reminds of Hülskens and Elskes, as well as the general pattern of the house flag: divided per saltire (blue upper and lowermost, white left and right) with a black cogwheel in the centre enclosing a red initial.
In all, four initials were treated: ‘H’, ‘B’, ‘K’, and ‘E’ (photographic evidence of ‘H’ only). The Neuss company, obviously related to the others, has a ‘N’ within the cogwheel shape.
Although the Hülskens homepage gives a nice overview of its gravel and sand dredging activities, NKuS is not mentioned and I have not found any further trace - but in 1952, at least, the flag was still flying!

The firm was founded in 1964. Being fed up with the German cold weather and high taxes, Herr und Frau Oldendorff emigrated southwards mit den Kindern and settled in Limassol, Cyprus in 1987. There was no change either in the name or the house flag of the company.

The company was located in Bremen. It is a vertically divided flag into red and white. A blue anchor crossed with a caduceus of the same colour is superimposed in the centre.

The company was located in Hamburg. It is a green over white over black horizontal tricolour with a white oval in the centre. Upon the oval are, all in black, hammer and mallet, the symbols of mining, and in the lower half along the edge black capitals “NKCW”.

Norderwerft

Norderwerft GmbH & Co KG - The company is located in Hamburg-Steinwerder. It was established on 1 August 1906 by a certain Mr. Holtz, owner of Schlosswerft Hamburg. The main customers were the Imperial Navy, the senate of Hamburg and many foreigners. The docks increased in 1912.
After WWI the dock yard was bought by Hamburgian merchants, being aware of the fact, that within the next years a new merchant fleet would be needed. The dock yard merged with Elbewerft in Boizenburg and was therefore renamed as Vereinigte Elbe- und Norderwerft. Both dock yards were however separated again in 1921. The company was renamed again as Norderwerft AG. The company had nearly 1,000 employees. In 1936 it was changed into a private company and renamed again as Norderwerft Köser und Meyer.
After WWII the company was restarted doing small business. In 1948 the first new built ship was generated.
In 1972 J.J.Sietas overtook the company and it got its current name since then.
Description of flag: It is a white flag divided by a black saltire, which is cotized white and red. In the hoist quarter is a black capital “N”, in the fly quarter a black capital “W”. In the centre of the flag is a red disc, fimbriated black, showing the white castle of Hamburg’s coat of arms.

Nordische Handels- und Reederei Gesellschaft m.b.H. The only thing I know is that the company was established after WWI, probably 1919. The man in charge was a certain Max R. Wogatzky. The company had close connections to "Nordische Handelsgesellschaft Hachfeld, Fischer G.m.b.H. Fischer was also Partner in Schröder, Hölken und Fischer, which was established at the same time and dissolved in 1925.
The company used a white flag divided by a red saltire superimposed by black serifed capital letters "NHR".

The company was located in Kiel. It is a modified triband of Schleswig-Holstein but the white stripe is clearly wider with a black capital “N” in its centre.

Nordische Reederei und Handelsgesellschaft (Schenk & Orth)

Nordische Reederei und Handelsgesellschaft (Schenk & Orth) - The captain Bruno Orth from Altona established in 1922 the shipping company "Schenk & Orth". The company was renamed in 1924 to "Nordische Reederei und Handelsgesellschaft (Schenk& Orth)". In 1928 the last ship was sold and the company dissolved.
The company used a black and white flag divided by saltire, the white quarters cotized red. In the centre of the flag was a shield divided per fess. In the chief were black letters "S&O" in a yellow field. The base was divided per pale with inverted Hamburg colours in the right side rotated clockwise 350^o and and the colours of Elbing in the left side rotated clockwise 50^o.
