Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Above in a silver (= white) field is a red, double queued demi-lion issuant, crowned, armed and tongued blue. Below the field is 3 x 6 chequered into silver (= white) and red.
Meaning:
According to source the lion is symbolizing the counts of Berg, the chequered field the counts of Mark. Historically the municipality was part of both counties.
