The flag and coat of arms
of Endumeni Municipality (formerly known as Dundee) can be seen at
http://www.endumeni.gov.za/endumeni_coat.htm where it is reported that:
"The Department of Arts and Culture: Bureau of Heraldry has on 18 July 2003
published the official registration of the new Coat-of-Arms of the Endumeni
Municipality. The registered motto of Endumeni depicted on the coat-of-arms is
"TOGETHER IN PROSPERITY". The coat-of-arms is designed in an oval shape of a
shield expressing characteristic symbol of the Zulu nation. The Bureau of
Heraldry advised that as Endumeni Municipality, being a Category B Municipality,
does not qualify to utilize animals or birds as supports in the coat-of-arms,
they therefore opted for the two guinea fowl feathers to flank the shield as
supports. The choice of the guinea fowls symbolizes the natural wildlife in this
area."
"The rectangle shape of the Endumeni flag is equally split into two triangular
shaped colours, sky blue (azure) on the top half and white at the bottom half.
A clear and colourful print of the entire coat-of-arms with all of its features
including the motto "Together in Prosperity" and bold name Endumeni at the base.
The two basic colours of blue and white were purposefully chosen as being the
colours that symbolize peace and tranquility. The meaning of this can be
expressed by using the example when one looks for divine blessing, one looks up
they sky as being the heaven or God's abode. The blue sky picturesque with white
cloud is what usually great you in clear day. The colours chosen for the
Endumeni flag are therefore very simple yet bold, and expressed with divine
meaning."
Endumeni has 85 000 inhabitants and is located in KwaZulu-Natal province.
