I visited the City Hall this week to take a digital image of the flag. The design is unremarkable, a dark green field with the city's name in large white letters over a image of City Hall in color and the FOUNDED 1815 in white below. However the workmanship on the flag is very unusual. The green field is a heavy nylon, and all lettering and the central design are carefully embroidered to give a brocade effect. The flag is double-sided, and the same workmanship is repeated on the reverse so the lettering reads correctly when viewed from that side. Moreover, the city has a second flag made in the
identical manner. They must have taken many hours to complete.
