Description of the flag

From the New Bowling Green Flag Facebook page:

We started with a green background to symbolize the land, our agricultural beginnings, and the fact that we have "green" in our city name.

The 3 stripes (the flag's "charter") each represent a facet of our city:

The blue stripe represents the Barren River, which is why we're all here, as Bowling Green was founded via steamboat travel over 200 years ago.

The gray stripe represents the L&N Railway, 31-W, and I-65, which all helped to further forge our city via the successful thoroughfares.

The gold stripe sits on top, supported by the other two stripes, symbolizing the economic and cultural prosperity brought to our town by the aforementioned tenets.

The charter is designed to create the feeling of movement, growth, and ascension, as Bowling Green moves onward and upward into an even more successful future.
