Park City
to unveil new city flag
February 07, 2019
The City of Park City announced
this week it will unveil a new city flag later this month. Leaders said the flag
will be a symbol of community pride, celebrating all Park City has accomplished
and what it will become.
"Park City is a city of resilience," said Mayor
Ray Mann. "Over the past several decades, we've celebrated successes and worked
together through challenges and adversity. Our hope is that the flag will
continually remind us of our collective strength and encourage us toward greater
unity."
The flag design was the result of a collaboration between the
city and Gardner Design, a branding and design firm. To gather inspiration for
the design, the Gardner team conducted a series of community meetings to gain a
true understanding of what makes Park City great. The final flag design
represents the city's parks, neighborhoods, community events, safety and people.
The flag design also leaves room for the bright future ahead, said Bill
Gardner, owner and president of Gardner Design. The flag will be officially
revealed at a special event at the Park City Administration Building, 1941 E.
61st North) from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 16.
As you look at this flag, one of
the first things you may notice is that it focuses on the center, which is
created by the intersection of horizontal and vertical lines. This is reflective
of the two major roadways, I-135 and K-96, that provide tremendous access to
Park City.
Comments about the flag appear on the first page of the city's
website: http://www.parkcityks.com:
· The next thing you may notice is a leaf, which reminds us of our city’s
beautiful parks and symbolizes our potential for continued growth. At the center
of the leaf is a star, which symbolizes hope and imagination.
· Next, you may
notice a line from top to bottom that divides the flag into an east and west
half, displaying the city’s two sides as split by 1-135. Second, the two sides
of the flag represent that Park City is served by two school systems, USD 259
and USD 262. The wave of the leaf in the center relates to the wave of Park
City’s logo and the unified vision for a future of prosperity for Park City.
· And finally, you may notice the blue and white background, which represents
open Kansas skies and endless possibility. The white reflects peace, clarity,
imagination, and the pursuit of freedom in Park City.

The flag of the City of Park City, Kansas, was the city logo on a white background, including a lilac irregular stripe on the top and green irregular stripe on the bottom. The logo is difficult to describe and its elements are something like fun park in lilac, orange and green. Image of the flag thanks to Judy Ferguson from the City Administration.
