Avery Garretson is a 7th Grader at Rivet and approached the commissioners on Tuesday saying he feels the county should have a flag because of Knox County’s historic significance to the state of Indiana and the US.Valentin Poposki, 27 January 2024
Garretson is an entrepreneur and currently the youngest member of the Pantheon Business Incubator in Vincennes. He says he enjoys designing flags and came up with a design he believes represents several aspects of the county.
It has two large blue vertical stripes for the two rivers along the county’s borders, while a green stripe down the middle signifies the agriculture industry. Garretson says two white stripes going corner to corner and crossing in the middle are for the peace and humility of the people while a golden fleur-de-lis lay in the center of the flag represents the county’s French heritage. It reads Knox County Indiana and has the year 1790 for when the county was established.
