The city of Davenport adopted its flag 6 December 2000.
Officially adopted by the City Council on December 6, 2000. The colors used in the Flag for the City of Davenport are taken from the Flags of the United States, the State of Iowa, and France (The French Colonial Territory before the
Louisiana Purchase in 1803
Symbolism:
Red signifies hardiness and valour, white purity and innocence, blue vigilance, perseverance and justice, yellow signifies "the golden rule or principle of treating others as one wants to be treated".
In the centre is the city symbol. The date 1836 is the year the village was surveyed and laid in lots by Maj. William Gordon.
