"It was confirmed in May, 19th 2000 by the decision of village council session. Azure; on the base argent are open wooden gate with a paling or, in the gate is sign of princes Ruzhyns'kyi's or, on the parties are roses argent with leaves or. The shield enframed by or cartouche and crowned by gules city crown. The author is A.Grechylo.
Defensive gate with a paling mean history of city occurrence as strengthened small town. The arms of princes Ruzhyns'kyi's underline their role in the history of settlement. Two heraldic roses are associative symbol in the settlement name ("ruzha" means "rose")."

The City

"The history of city occurrence and its name are connected with the Ukrainian princely family Ruzhyns'kyi's, considered as descendants of great Lithuanian prince Gedimin. During time of a diet in Warsaw in April, 13th 1590, king Sigizmund III at the desire of prince Kyryk Ostafijovych Ruzhyns'ky has allowed to base a new city on the river Bernava and to use the Magdebourg right.
