The municipality of Akören (6,891 inhabitants in 2012, 3,328 in the town of Akören; 62,866 ha) is located 50 km south of Konya.

Flag of Akören

The flag of Akören (photo, photo, photo) is white with the municipality's emblem. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
The book (gray on the flag but white on the self-standing emblem) is inscribed with a quote of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, "Hayatta en hakiki mürşit, ilimdir", "Our true mentor in life is science", part of a speech given on 22 September 1924 at the Samsun Trade School. This must refer to the Ali Riza Ercan Vocational School, established in 1997 in Akören by Selçuk University (Konya).
