The flag of Naklo is prescribed by Decision Odlok o spremembi Odloka o grbu, zastavi in občinskem prazniku Občine Naklo, adopted on 12 September 2012 and published on 21 September 2012 in the Slovene official gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, No. 71 (text). The Decision changes the proportions of the original flag from 1:3 to 1:2. During the Assembly session adopting the Decision, the Mayor explained that the change in the flag's proportions aimed at make its production cheaper, as the long flager was unnecessary expensive. The Mayor then answered a question raised by the oposition, stating that the old flags were to be retained in use and replaced when neccesary, as needed.

The coat of arms of Naklo is "Quarterly argent and azure bordered or overall two keys in saltire of the last".
The keys are the attributes of St. Peter, the patron of the parish
church in Naklo.

The first flag of Naklo was prescribed by Decision Odloka o grbu, zastavi in občinskem prazniku Občine
Naklo, adopted on 22 September 1996 and published on 25 October 1996 in the local official gazette Uradni vestnik Gorenjske, No. 41, pp. 121-122 (text).
The flag is in proportions 1:3, horizontally divided blue-white-blue, the lower blue stripe being of double width (that is 1:1:2), and with the municipal coat of arms off-set to the hoist. The coat of arms is set with its vertical axis on the 1/3 of the
length with the coat of arms' fields counterchanging the stripes.
