Smederevska Palanka changed its symbols in February 2009. The flag, in proportions 2:1 and designed to be hanged vertically, is white with the
basic shield of arms of Smederevsksa Palanka with a thick white
border charged with 17 "ornaments" representing the 17 villages forming the municipality.

The flag in actual use (2019) is charged with the municipality's greater coat of arms.

The flag of Smederevska Palanka used until February 2009 was prescribed by Decisions Odluka o grbu i zastavi (stegu) opštine i naseljenog mesta Smederevska Palanka and Odluka o upotrebi i zaštiti grba i zastave (stega) opštine i naseljenog mesta Smederevska Palanka, adopted on 30 April 2003.
The flag is a simplified square banner of the municipal arms,
"Per fess lowered in palisade cut vert a church argent and sable".
There are three coats of arms. The ceremonial (greater) coat of arms is:
"Per fess lowered in palisade cut vert a church argent and sable a fess wavy or
cotised, crowned with a masoned crown or, supported by two lions
rampant gules langued or and armed argent holding a sword argent
hilted or and a banner dexter that of Serbia and sinister that of
Smederevska Palanka, standing on a compartment of an oak branch or
with a ribbon purpure inscribed with the name of the city argent.
The middle coat of arms retains the crown, but has an oak wreath with
the ribbon instead.
The lesser coat of arms consists of the shield
