Coat of arms

[Vinhais commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta, 25 Nov 2016

The shield of the arms is Argent, a bendy palm frond Vert over a sinister bendy dagger Gules hilted Sable and an orle of two grape vines Vert each bearing three bunches Purple, the stems crossed per saltire and tied Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "FREGUESIA DE VINHAIS".
Meaning:
"Vinhais" is an atypical / archaic Portuguese word for "vineyards" (usually: "vinhas"; also: "vinhedos"); these arms are thus partly canting.
