Shield Gules, divided by a 3-arched bridge Argent masoned Sable, in chief a radiant sun Or, in base two wheat ears Or crossed per saltire. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SELMES - VIDIGUEIRA".
Meaning:
The wheat ears are representing the importance of agriculture. The bridge is the local Roman bridge. The sun is alluding to the golden acres of the Alentejo, to which the municipality belongs.

Selmes is one of the four communes of the Vidigueira municipality; it had 894 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 137,0 km².
