It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a yellow and black quarterly (town rank) background.

The arms are Argent above two two fesses wavy Azure and surrounded at dexter by a branch of orange fruited Or and leaved Vert and at sinister by a branch of olive fruited Sable and leaved Vert a bunch of grapes leaved Vert and fruited purple. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE TABUAÇO".

Tabuaço municipality had 6785 inhabitants in 2001 and consists of 13 communes covering 135,72 km². It is part of Viseu District, traditional province and 1999 ref. adm. region Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, current C.C.R. / NUTS II Norte, and NUTS III Douro.
