It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Vert, four pales Argent, chief Argent charged with a throughout aqueduct Sable with five archs, bordure Sable charged with eight branches of orange Vert, each one carrying three oranges Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SANTO ANTÃO DO TOJAL".
Meaning:
The pales are symbolizing gardens and agriculture. The bridge is representing the aqueduct of Santo Antão, being longer than 4000 metres and used for the fountains in the local palaces, constructed by Santo Antão, the 1st patriarch of Lisboa. The bordure's black colour is referring to the fertile soil. The oranges are taken from the arms of Loures Municipality, stressing that this is one of its communes.

Santo Antão do Tojal Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Loures Municipality (q.v.); it had 4216 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 14.7 km².

Shield Gules, a branch of olive Or between two uncoiled sheets pf paper Argent, in base a bar wavy Argent charged with a barrulet wavy Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SÃO JULIÃO DO TOJAL"
Meaning:
The scrolls of paper are symbolizing the local paper manufacturing of Abelheira. The olive branch is referring to the olive groves and olive oil production in the commune. The bar wavy is river Trancão.
