Gmina Kunów is an urban-rural gmina (commune) in Ostrowiec County,
Świętokrzyskie Voivodship, in south-central Poland. Its seat is the town
of Kunów, which lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) west of Ostrowiec
Świętokrzyski and 48 km (30 mi) east of the regional capital Kielce.
Area: 113.73 sq.km (43.9 sq.mi); Population: 9,960 (2006).
Arms and flag adopted on February 21, 2003 (resolution # VII/55/2003).
"Arms: on the blue shield golden horseshoe. Inside it red hammer with
golden handle.
It used to be a symbol of the stone cutters guild.
Flag: a rectangular piece of cloth in the ratio 5:8 composed of three
equal horizontal bands: blue-yellow-red. It is a heraldic mirror of the
colors of the Arms of Kunów."
