Pawonków - rural commune, Lubliniec County, Śląskie Voivodship - former
German name: Pawonkau.
Gmina Pawonków is a rural commune in Lubliniec County, Silesian Voivodeship,
in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Pawonków, which lies approximately
8 kilometres (5 mi) west of Lubliniec and 58 km (36 mi) north-west
of the regional capital Katowice.
Area: 118.74 sq.km (45.8 sq.mi); Population: 6,459 (2006); Land under
cultivation - 47%; forests - 45%.
An agricultural commune with great tourist potential.
Arms and flag adopted on April 29, 2009 (resolution # 155/XXVII/2009).
"Arms: on blue, late-Gothic shield a golden crown (open type) under
which two golden, broken arrows, are placed.
Flag: Rectangular, in blue color and in the ratio 5:8 on which the
Arms are placed centrally."
