First mentioned in documents of 1229 as the place of the meeting of
the Piast princes called by Prince Henryk Brodaty (Jędrzych I Brodaty -
Henry I the Bearded - Heinrich I der Bärtige). The settlement existed much
earlier if the infrastructure was in place for such an important event.
In 1513, the owner of Spytkowice, Wawrzyniec Myszkowski, killed during
an argument over the fishing pond, the last of the Dukes of Zator - Janusz
V (John V of Zator).
New Arms and a brand new flag adopted on December 28, 2007 (resolution
# XIV/119/07).
The description of the commune's symbols is not available right now,
but are shown in the proof sheet attached to the resolution.
The old Arms (2001-2007) are retained by the village of Spytkowice,
the seat (capital) of the commune.
