Sierpc - rural commune, Sierpc County, Mazowieckie Voivodship - former
names: gmina Białyszewo + gmina Borkowo.
Gmina Sierpc is a rural gmina (commune) in Sierpc County, Masovian
Voivodship, in east-central Poland. Its seat is the town of Sierpc, although
the town is not part of the territory of the commune.
Area: 150.23 sq.km (58 sq.mi); Population: 7,141 (2006).
Created in 1992, the commune has the agricultural character and is
encompassing the city of Sierpc. Land under cultivation - 77%; Forests
- 16%.
Arms and flag adopted on January 26, 2007 (resolution # 25/V/07).
"Arms: on a red shield a golden lion walking to the right. Above the
lion a golden initial "S" underneath a golden crown.
Flag: mirrors the Coat of Arms. Ratio is 5:8.
The commune has a banner also."
