Prisons Department Logo and Corporate Colours
The symbolism of the
colours and logo of the Prisons department of Malaysia from their website as
follow (English version):
Green Colour. The department’s corporate colour symbolises the objective of
the department to reform citizens who have lapsed into moral decay into
productive individuals who are able to once again fit into to society as useful
citizens able to fulfill their social obligations...."[1]
Flag Name and Symbolism of Colours
The Malay language site
additionally mentions the name of the flag as "Waja Bakti" which translates
roughly as Dedication of Steel. Elaborated further as having a "tough as steel"
mentality in the carrying out of responsibilities and dedication in serving at
all times. The site for the logo, motto, and flag in Malay also mentions of the
flag's colours symbolism, my translation as follow:
Flag History
The current flag was raised for the first time at the
Prisons Department Day Celebrations on 18 October 2008. Officiated by the
Minister of Home/Internal Affairs at Marang Prison in Terengganu.[3][4].
The former flag of the department was known as "Jalur Bakti" or Dedicated
Stripes; the former flag being comprised of 14 green and white stripes, with a
green canton (9 stripes high or alternatively 8 stripes high with canton sitting
on the 9th green stripe) charged with the prisons department logo in white
(about 4 to 5 stripes high).[5][6][7][8][9]
