The municipality of Ilinden is using a different flag that consists of the
municipal arms on red background. The flag with "И" on it is still the official
one.

The municipal flag of Ilinden (Macedonian Ministry of Local
Self-Government website, page no longer online), is vertical, in proportions 2:1, red with a yellow sun with twelve "drop-like" rays placed in the upper part of the flag, a yellow stripe placed
along each vertical side of the flag and stretching from the center
of the sun to the bottom of the flag, and a diagonal yellow stripe
linking both vertical stripes.
The sun is another variation of the North Macedonia national flag, and
the yellow stripes build an inverted N, which probably represent the Cyrillic initial (И) of Ilinden.
According to the municipal website, which shows a flag of slightly different design, the flag of Ilinden was adopted in 1996 when the municipality was created.
